I am fortunate to live in an environment that allows me to travel throughout the world. To have this freedom is a wonderful feeling and for me it is the only luxury I need as a human being. In the process, the simple aspect of travelling takes top priority. Wandering through "strange worlds" on foot is the most intensive travelling experience I can imagine. Discovering new things, meeting people and above all exploring the still(!) present natural landscapes of our earth - on one's own steam. But also constantly having to face new challenges and situations, repeatedly finding out that you somehow can go on and experiencing how every effort is rewarded without wonderful, unforgettable moments.
My trip history:
It is now 4 four years since I wondered why no-one has yet actually come up with the idea of using the tent poles as part of the support structure. After, one always has it there and why integrate additional aluminium into the rucksacks if one already has enough. So I developed my first own rucksack, which did not have a base plate. I tensioned the tent poles of my Soulo in a V-shape between two thrust bearings made of PE tube and attached it all to the hip belt of my old MacPac glissade. Three packsacks offered enough space and were also watertight. I walked over a thousand metres through Tasmania with this rucksack, without testing it beforehand. Apart from the fact that the rubber of the tent poles was eventually worn through, my new rucksack did not leave me in the lurch. Many people were amazed when they saw the rucksack and many were also enthused by the idea. The disadvantage of the first structure was that I could use only my tent poles and the rucksack worked only for my size. So for the trip through New Zealand the following year I used a base plate on which I strapped the tent poles down. Thus, no longer did anything wear through and I could now use any tent poles I wanted. I kept the tried-and-tested system with the three packsacks and thanks to the base plate packing was also considerably easier. I refined this system into what is now the ONE. I wanted a rucksack that looks great, is watertight, practical, robust and no longer weighs about 2.5 kilos. I fiddled about with it until I was satisfied and now? Now, I think there is no better rucksack. So I decided to sell my ONE and to try to get others enthusiastic about this rucksack system.
